ABOUT THE ISSW

The ISSW was born in Banff in 1976, when for the first time 120 delegates came together to network and share knowledge on snow science and practical avalanche forecasting. The conference returned to Banff again in 1996, when 478 delegates gathered for the 10th ISSW. Since then, the conference has grown to almost 1000 delegates, who will once again converge in Banff for the 21st ISSW.

ISSW has become the premier avalanche conference in the world.
